Upon becoming a parent for the first time, I was shocked by the intensity of concern one can have for the future of a child.  These photographs are from a series titled 'My Private Paradise' where I explore the anxiety of motherhood.  In these pictures, I create a dark fantasy world, obsessively imagining all that could go wrong with my daughter, while facing my fears of being an imperfect mother.  However, these photographs essentially portray a fiction - a contrast to what was actually a joyful and carefree time in my daughter's life.  The framing and editing creates the fiction, challenging the notion of photography as an objective representation of the truth and underscoring how our perceptions of reality are colored by our fantasies and fears.
